VELIKY NOVGOROD, May 18, (RIA Novosti, Andrei Letyagin) - The Valdai bell museum is to open its rare-bells exhibition May 18 in Konstantinovo village, the Ryazan region. Konstantinovo is the birth-place of great Russian poet Sergei Yesenin.
It is intended to display about 500 rare bells at the Valdai bell museum and at the Sergei Yesenin state museum, too.
The exhibition will mostly feature 19th century and 20th century shaft-bow bells and church bells.
Museum staffers will deliver a small belfry to Konstantinovo, so that every visitor could ring the bells.
"We chose big and little bells that were Yesenin's contemporaries, and which could have been by him, especially for this exhibition," museum people noted.
Sergei Yesenin (1895-1925) immortalized peasant Rus. He was a subtly lyric poet, who knew the language of the people and their mentality perfectly well. Yesenin's poems are also renowned for their unique landscapes.
