MOSCOW, June 20 (RIA Novosti) - Famous Italian composer and conductor Ennio Morricone is scheduled to give his first-ever concert in Russia Thursday at the Grand Kremlin Palace.

Morricone has written music for more than 500 films, including Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time in America, A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Bernardo Betolucci's Novecento, Pier Paolo Pasolini's Canterbury Tales, The Decameron and Theorem, Mikhail Kalatozov's The Red Tent and Vladimir Khotinenko's 72 Meters.

Morricone's awards include a Grammy for The Untouchables, seven of Italy's David di Donatello awards, two Golden Globe awards and an Academy Award for Malena. His work for 72 Meters also brought him a Russian Golden Eagle award. He said his most valuable honor is the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion, which he received in 1995 in celebration of cinema's 100th anniversary.

Morricone's music is very familiar to most moviegoers, who have bought millions of his soundtracks worldwide.

He will be accompanied by the Russian State Radio and Television Orchestra, a 100-voice strong choir, a soprano and a pianist.

Fragments from movies and TV series that Morricone wrote music for will be projected on huge screens installed on the stage.
