Morality council may be set up in Russia
MOSCOW, June 27 (RIA Novosti) - A Supreme Council on morals and morality may be set up in Russia, a spokesman for the Culture and Mass Communication Ministry said Monday. The spokesman said that the council could help fight for morality in the media.
Deputy Minister Leonid Nadirov said the council would comprise respected people.
Members of the ministry's board made many proposals on the council's work at a session Monday, he said.
Members dissatisfied with the work of the Interior Ministry and Justice Ministry's expert councils proposed forming an expert group in this sphere.
The State Duma, parliament's lower house, criticized the Culture and Mass Communication Ministry "for pornography" on TV in June.
Nadirov said that the ministry would tackle this problem, but that the law should determine what is considered pornography and what is not.
