LONDON, November 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russian artworks sold for a record 25.7 million pounds ($51.4 million) at Sotherby's auction house in London on Monday night.

The 57 lots on sale were originally valued at around 16 million pounds ($32 mln) and included works by Natalia Goncharova, Konstantin Makovsky, Nikolai Roerich, Ivan Aivazovsky, Lyubov Popova, Vasily Polenov.

Goncharova's painting "Bluebells" (1909) fetched a staggering 3 million pounds ($6 million).

Makovsky's 1868 painting "From the Everyday Life of the Russian Boyar in the Late XVII Century" went for 2 million pounds (over $4 million).

London auctions houses are expecting more records to fall on Wednesday when a recently discovered Faberge egg, valued at 6-9 million pounds ($12-18 mln) goes under the hammer.

"It's our biggest week, our most valuable week," said Matthew Paton, from Christie's estimating total sales could fetch up to 38 million pounds ($76 mln).
