Russia's Mariinsky Theater to perform in U.S., Germany, U.K.

ST. PETERSBURG, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - St. Petersburg's world famous Mariinsky Theater will perform in the United States, Germany and Britain this fall, its press service said Friday.

From September 30 to October 8, the theater will perform at the stage of Berlin's Deutsche Oper with a program involving musicians, opera singers and ballet dancers.

The theater will present its classical operas - "The Queen of Spades" by Pyotr Chaikovsky, "Khovanshchina" by Modest Musorgsky and "The Nose" by Dmitry Shostakovich, along with famous ballets - "Swan Lake" and "Le Corsaire."

From October 1 to October 19 the theater will tour the United States with the ballets "Giselle" and "Don Quixote."

And from October 13 to October 18, the Mariinsky Theater will stage several shows at London's Sadler's Wells, including George Balanchine's "Apollo" and "The Prodigal Son" and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "The Tale of Tsar Saltan."
