Russia is concerned over the currency fluctuation rate of the euro and hopes that the European currency will stabilize soon, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at the International Economic Forum on Saturday.

Russia is concerned over the currency fluctuation rate of the euro and hopes that the European currency will stabilize soon, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at the International Economic Forum on Saturday.

"We are very concerned over the health of the euro and hope it gets well soon," Medvedev said.

Medvedev said Russia's concern over the euro is tied to the fact that many Russians have their savings in euros and that Russia uses the euro as a reserve currency fund.

"The euro is our currency as well, it's not just the currency of the European Union because it is a currency that we use and it's a reserve currency," the Russian leader said.

The president reiterated that Russia has urged the world several times to increase the number of reserve currencies to include the ruble.

"We believe that other countries will understand us because even with the two large and powerful currencies like the dollar and euro, the world has no insurance against problems," he said.
