KIEV, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine has received $2.8 billion as a second tranche of a stabilization loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the press service of the country's finance ministry said on Thursday.
"Yes, we have received (the IMF tranche). A relevant press release with all the details is being prepared," the press service said.
In November 2008, the IMF approved a $16.43 billion stabilization loan to assist Ukraine's economy. Kiev received the first tranche worth $4.5 billion shortly after.
Ukraine's acting finance minister Ihor Umanskiy said on Tuesday that $1.5 billion will be allocated to the state budget and will serve as a guarantee for Ukraine's payments on foreign loans.
The remaining part will be used to strengthen the country's gold and currency reserves.
