TBILISI, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - Over 20,000 members of the Georgian opposition marched from the country's parliament to the interior ministry building in the capital Tbilisi on Tuesday to mark two months of protests in the country.

The opposition has been holding round-the-clock protests since April 9 demanding President Mikheil Saakashvili step down over his failure to carry out democratic reforms and last August's war with Russia.

"Today we mark two months since the beginning of the protests and this day should become the climax of people's protests," the leader of the Conservative Party of Georgia, Zviad Dzidziguri said.

Opposition members plan to form a human chain near the Interior Ministry, calling for a stop to political repression, the release of political prisoners and the sacking of the country's interior minister, Vano Merabishvili.

Although opposition leaders called on participants not to use party symbols during Tuesday's protests, they said that members of the Labor Party, the National Forum and the Alliance for Freedom were taking part in the march.
