TBILISI, July 8 (RIA Novosti) -Georgian opposition leaders plan to dress in white when they meet U.S. Vice President Joe Biden during his visit to Tbilisi later this month, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
Biden is expected to travel to Georgia and Ukraine on July 20-24 to hold talks with the former Soviet states' leaders and representatives of the opposition and civil society.
According to the U.S. government, the visit is aimed at demonstrating "U.S. support for continued democratic and economic reforms" and discussing "issues of mutual interest in both countries."
A spokesman for Georgia's Conservative Party said the white clothes would symbolize the innocence of thought of protesters, who have been demanding that President Mikheil Saakashvili resign since April 9.
The spokesman provided no other details on the planned action.
Fourteen non-parliamentary opposition parties and political organizations urge the president's resignation over last August's disastrous war with Russia and his failure to carry out democratic reforms.
