Experts from regional and international security organizations will take part on Tuesday in an international conference on efforts to fight terrorism and extremism due to open in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.

"The forum will take place in line with a cooperation program of CIS member states in the fight against terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2008-2010," a Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.

She said the meeting will involve delegations from the post-Soviet Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as representatives from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

The experts will touch upon urgent problems in countering terrorist threats and displays of extremism and discuss enhancing coordination between regional and international organizations.

The conference will also gather on Wednesday.

The CSTO comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Russia's security strategy until 2020 approved by President Dmitry Medvedev envisions the CSTO as "a key mechanism to counter regional military challenges and threats."

The SCO regional security group comprises Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Iran, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status.
