Russian president arrives in Belarus for EurAsEC meeting

Dmitry Medvedev, Russia's president, arrived in the capital of Belarus on Friday to participate in a meeting of the Inter-State Council of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC).
Medvedev will also meet with the presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan to sign an agreement on the Customs Union between the three ex-Soviet nations and approve a Customs Code due to come into effect at the start of 2010.
According to a Kremlin source, the EurAsEC agenda will cover every aspect of integration processes within the community, whose participants are Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
Medvedev is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev and visit the new Russian Embassy in Belarus.
