Putin sends birthday greetings to Ukrainian prime minister

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent birthday greetings to his Ukrainian counterpart, Yulia Tymoshenko, on Friday, his spokesman said.

"While on a working visit in Paris, Putin has sent a telegram and held a telephone conversation to congratulate Tymoshenko on her birthday," Dmitry Peskov said.

The Russian prime minister's spokesman added that Putin praised the results of their recent meeting in the Ukrainian city of Yalta.

The Russian and Ukrainian prime ministers reached a number of agreements during the talks, and Tymoshenko reaffirmed that Kiev would fulfill its obligations on the transit of Russian natural gas to Europe this winter.
