The speaker of Kyrgyzstan's unicameral parliament, Aitibai Tagayev, has submitted his resignation, the head of the presidential administration said on Thursday.
The speaker submit his resignation after the president appointed him to the post of the governor of the southwestern Batken Province, Kanybek Zhoroyev said.
Tagayev, a member of the pro-presidential Ak Zhol party, was elected as speaker on May 29, 2009.
The new speaker will be elected at a parliamentary session later in the day.
