The provisional government in Kyrgyzstan has suspended the Constitutional Court in the former Soviet Central Asian republic, interim Deputy Prime Minister Azimbek Beknazarov said on Tuesday.
"All this time the Constitutional Court has defied the Constitution, backing the interests of the families of [former President Askar] Akayev and [current President Kurmanbek] Bakiyev," Beknazarov said during an address to the judges.
He said the court would be suspended until a new constitution had been adopted.
