Supporters of ousted Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev held a rally on Tuesday in the city of Jalal-Abad in southwestern Kyrgyzstan.
Around 2,000 people took part in the demonstration on the city's central square. Locals said the protesters could storm the administrative building, which is being used by representatives of the interim government.
Bakiyev earlier said he felt personal responsibility for the unrest. "My fault is that I let it happen," he said, adding the United Nations should send peacekeepers to the Central Asian republic to prevent further riots.
Protests against Bakiyev and his government began last week in Talas and spread to other regions of the country including Bishkek, leaving some 80 people dead and more than 1,500 injured.
The opposition has formed an interim government and named Roza Otunbayeva prime minister.
