The Iranian Army will hold a series of exercises with airborne and armor units before the end of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2012), a top military commander said on Tuesday.

The drills will be held jointly with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan was quoted by Press TV as saying.

One exercise will take place in southeast Iran and another “most probably” in central Iran or along the country’s western border, he said.

Apart from the two joint war games, the Army Ground Forces will also carry out three other military exercises independently, the commander said.
