Iraq Shows Interest in Czech Guns

A high-level Iraqi delegation that visited the Czech Republic has shown interest in an assortment of small arms and light weapons, the Ceska zbrojovka arms maker said on Thursday according to the CTK news agency.
The delegation led by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki showed interest in rifles, submachine guns and pistols, including new CZ 805 Bren assault rifles, CZ Scorpion EVO3 submachine guns and CZ 75 P-07 Duty pistols.
Baghdad is also seeking to establish a gun service and training center in Iraq.
It was announced last week that Iraq is ready to buy 28 Czech L-159 combat aircraft worth about $1 billion.
The L-159 can be armed with Sidewinder missiles, targeting pods and laser-guided air-to-surface weapons, and can operate from austere airstrips.
