Russia’s Baltic Fleet on Friday put into service two new tugboats, the fleet’s press service said.

KALININGRAD, March 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russia’s Baltic Fleet on Friday put into service two new tugboats, the fleet’s press service said.

A total of five Project 90600 tugboats have been built for the Baltic Fleet in 2011-2012, the press service said.

The first three are already in service and another is to be built by the end of the year, it said.

Project 90600 tugs, built at the Pella shipyard in the Leningrad region, are designed to perform tug and tow operations in port, at sea and in coastal areas, fight fires on floating and onshore facilities, clean up oil spills and transport cargo.
