Russia and NATO will sign an agreement on setting up a trust fund for maintenance of Mil helicopters in Europe by yearend, a deputy director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said on Tuesday.

Vyacheslav Dzirkaln said the fund would be worth $7 million.

"The talks are coming to an end," Dzirkaln said, adding that Russia's contribution to the fund would be in the form of supplying spare parts and training specialists.

He said NATO countries often use Mil helicopters but Russia has no data on how the helicopters undergo maintenance and how flight safety is ensured.

"The trust fund is, on the one hand, a fight against counterfeit products, and on the other, support for the Mil brand helicopters' good reputation," Dzirkaln said.
