China flood death toll rises to 22

MOSCOW, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - The number of victims of flooding and rainstorms in southwest China's Sichuan Province has risen to 22, while another seven people are missing, the Xinhua news agency said on Monday.
Previous reports put the death toll figure at 16.
The agency reported that 38 people had been injured because of the torrential rains.
As much as 177 millimeters of precipitation fell in 24 hours in some areas of the province, and the rain had not stopped. As a result, 95 buildings and about 533 hectares of agricultural land were damaged.
The province of Hunan was also affected by extensive flooding. According to recent statistics, 12 people had been killed and five were missing. The water has destroyed 3,200 houses, with damage estimate at $100 million.
