BELL WILL TOLL TO SEPTEMBER 11 VICTIMS
16:03 21/02/2005
VELIKIY NOVGOROD, February 21 (RIA Novosti, Andrei Letyagin) - The Valdai museum's unique collection of bells has been replenished by a bell founded in memory of victims to the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York.
The new bell was donated to the museum by Viktor Pirainen, a famous foundry man from St. Petersburg and a member of the Russian Foundry Association.
The bell's top is decorated with the images of the Twin Towers ruined in the terrorist attacks. The bell is about 17 centimeters high and 10 centimeters wide.
Rescuers, police officers, fire fighters, and the military engaged in the rescue efforts are depicted on the bell's sides.
There is a mechanic device with a tongue inside, which makes the bell toll. The bell is placed on a special stand.
"The new bell is undoubtedly a precious exhibit," the Valdai bell museum told RIA Novosti.
