
ST. PETERSBURG, April 11 (RIA Novosti - North-West) - St. Petersburg is to host official events devoted to the international concentration-camp inmates' liberation day on April 11.
Talking to RIA Novosti, people at the St. Petersburg municipal government's labor committee noted that former concentration-camp inmates living in the city will visit a monument dedicated to the Leningrad region's children in line with official events.
Wreaths and flowers will be laid at a cornerstone to a monument to former concentration-camp inmates in Krasnoye Selo, a St. Petersburg suburb. This solemn ceremony will take place in an impressive setting.
More than 500 former adult concentration-camp inmates, as well as over 20,000 former underage concentration-camp inmates, now live in St. Petersburg.
Three organizations, i.e. the Soyuz public regional organization of former underage concentration-camp inmates, the St. Petersburg public organization of former underage inmates and the public regional organization of former concentration-camp and Gestapo-prison inmates, represent their interests at this stage.
