Russian Orthodox leader Alexy II dies at 79

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II (born Alexei Ridiger) died at the age of 79 in his residency in Peredelkino, to the southwest of Moscow, in the morning of December 5. Alexy II led the Russian Orthodox Church for 18 years.
