The mayor’s first deputy in the Moscow government, Pyotr Biryukov, said the line is ready to open: “The line is ready. This will be good for Moscow.”

Pyotr Biryukov (left) added that the route had been built “quite quickly.”
The line is 6.3 kilometers long.
Passengers will be able to start travelling this route in a week’s time, on December 26.
Dmitry Gayev (left), the head of the Moscow Metro, told journalists that the construction of the Volokolamskaya, Myakinino and Mitino stations started back in the 1980s, but that it had to stop due to funding problems, only resuming in 2007.
The new Moscow Metro line will attract some of the passengers that used to travel along the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line, taking some of the pressure off that line.
The new Moscow Metro line will serve around 140,000 people living in this area. All stations have a capacity of 25,000 to 30,000 people in the rush hour.
“The city commission will decide what to call these new stations,” Biryukov said. However, the new stations’ names can already be seen on Metro maps, on the walls and sign boards of the new stations.
