There are over 600 active volcanoes on our planet, and 28 of them are in Kamchatka, in Russia’s Far East. The Kamchatka Peninsula also has some 160 silent volcanoes. Kamchatka volcanoes are ones of the world’s wonders and one of Russia’s main nature attractions. On August 27-29 Kamchatka will mark Volcano Day. Three volcanoes - Klyuchevskoy, Koryak and Kronotsky - could become the volcanic symbol of Kamchatka. Photo: Krenitsyn Volcano on Onekotan Island of the Kuril Islands.
