Russia is planning to revive and boost its scientific presence in the Arctic, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told the forum.
He said the Russian authorities plan to use the potential of leading Russian universities, which have strong scientific schools and well-instated traditions of successful research in the Arctic.
The prime minister said all disputes over the geopolitical and economic interests of the Arctic can be solved through partnership agreements.
Putin said one of the priorities was to invest serious funds into the scientific and environmental infrastructure of the Arctic. He said the number of national parks and nature reserves would be increased. Last year the national park Russian Arctic was opened on the islands of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago.
