At about 1 a.m. on August 21, a column of combat vehicles (tanks) approached the barricades in front of the White House. About 20 vehicles broke through the barricades on Novy Arbat but no assault followed. That night three people were killed as the tanks maneuvered: Dmitry Komar, Vladimir Usov and Ilya Krichevsky.
