Yekaterinburg chefs beat the world record by preparing the longest sushi roll in the world.
The dish is 2.521 kilometers, 74 centimeters long (over one mile). The previous longest roll made by the Council of Japanese Postal Workers’ Union in Maebashi on April 22, 2007, measured 2.033 kilometers.
Sixty chefs worked 15 hours to prepare the sushi roll.
The sushi roll was prepared using 1.5 tons of rice, 23 kilograms of sesame seeds, and nearly 500 kilograms of cucumbers.
The idea of preparing a giant sushi roll was suggested in summer 2011. Later, the organizers submitted an application to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Two independent experts and a judge watched the work of Urals sushi chefs. The recordings in the registry book, photo and video accounts will be sent off to the Guinness Book of World Records.
After the sushi roll was prepared, the organizers offered all those present to try out the exclusive dish. Also, a free master class was held on sushi roll preparation.
