MOSCOW, December 28 (RIA Novosti) - Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the son of assassinated Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, made a political debut on the fifth anniversary of his mother’s death, Al Jazeera reported.
Bilawal Bhutto, who is also the son of current President Asif Ali Zardari, delivered his first major speech on Thursday in front of thousands of people, who gathered at the family mausoleum at Larkana, in the southern province of Sindh.
With the general elections in Pakistan to be held next spring, the 24-year-old graduate of Oxford is unlikely to participate in them as a minimal required age to run in the election is 25.
Bhutto’s speech came as Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) ruling party is expected to announce the names of suspects behind the assassination of his mother.
Benazir Bhutto was killed in December 2007 during a campaign rally in the city of Rawalpindi. The opposition leader was shot before a suicide bomber exploded his device, killing dozens of other people.
