21:35 17/08/2005
MOSCOW, August 17 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin and Jordanian King Abdullah II will meet in Sochi Thursday to discuss measures against terrorism and religious extremism.

An official in the presidential administration said the meeting would be central in the Jordanian king's visit to Russia.

The official also said the two leaders would discuss the above-mentioned issues in view of the particular significance they have recently acquired.

They will also discuss the situation in the Middle East and consider trade and economic cooperation.

The Jordanian king arrived in Moscow for a four-day working visit on August 16 and attended the 7th International Air and Space Show in Zhukovsky (outside Moscow) on the same day.

This is his seventh trip to Russia in the past four years.

The official said it testified to the intensity of the Russian-Jordanian political dialogue and the countries' mutual commitment to promoting bilateral relations.
