Russia satisfied with initial results of Israel's withdrawal from Gaza
MOSCOW, August 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is satisfied with the initial results of Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and West Bank, the official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
"Moscow regards Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the northern part of the West Bank as an important step toward the implementation of the roadmap and resumption of full-scale Palestinian-Israeli talks for the sake of a just and full settlement in the Middle East," Mikhail Kamynin said.
The problem of Palestine's socio-economic revival, including the free movement of people and goods between the Gaza Strip and West Bank, will be resolved given the current contacts between Palestine and Israel and the proactive assistance of the quartet of international intermediaries, the spokesman said. He added that this would improve the living standards of Palestinians.
