WASHINGTON, September 2 (RIA Novosti) - The United States has received specific proposals from Russia on assisting those affected by Hurricane Katrina, the press secretary of the Russian Embassy in the U.S. said Friday.
Yevgeny Khorishko said the American side would reply to the offer of assistance soon. Four aircraft of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry - an Il-62 with 60 rescue workers and equipment on board, an Il-76 with two light helicopters and crews on board, as well as two transport aircraft with humanitarian supplies - would be dispatched to the U.S, he said.
