MOSCOW, September (RIA Novosti) - Five thousand stolen cell phones have been seized in a St. Petersburg port, a customs official said Monday.
"The seized phones cost more than 600,000 euros," the Federal Customs Committee said.
The telephones were brought to Petersburg from Finland on a motor ship in 767 packages.
No shipping documents were attached to the cargo, but the available documents implicated companies registered in Moscow and Petersburg, the committee said.
The packages were found in the sauna, shower room, drying unit and the conditioning room of the vessel.
Experts are examining the cargo and authorities are considering opening a criminal case.
