MOSCOW, September 8 (RIA Novosti)-Russian President Vladimir Putin will make a working visit to Germany Thursday, where he will meet with Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.

A source in the Kremlin said a series of bilateral agreements would be signed, in particular a Joint Russian-German Declaration on Energy Cooperation. The two leaders will also be present when the chief executives of Gazprom, Russia's natural gas monopoly, and the German energy concerns E.ON AG and BASF sign an agreement on the construction of the North European Gas pipeline.

"The president and chancellor also plan to meet with a group of Russian and German healthcare employees and doctors, and experts in children's hematology," the source said.

He said work was being conducted on a joint project to build a federal center of oncology, hematology and immunology in Moscow.

"A memorandum on setting up the center will be signed in the presence of Vladimir Putin and Gerhard Schroeder," the source said.

The Kremlin representative continued that Putin and Schroeder would meet a few days before the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Germany (September 13, 1955).

"Putin and Schroeder will consider a broad range of important international issues, including the Middle East, the situation in Iraq, the Iranian nuclear file, the reform of the UN and the Security Council, and others," the source said.

Chancellor Schroeder will also tell Putin about the election campaign in Germany, where voting for the Bundestag will take place on September 18, the source said.
