13:54 26/09/2005

ANKARA, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will exhibit for the first time Ka-226 light multi-purpose helicopters at the IDEF-2005 international exhibition in Turkey, Rosoboronexport, Russia's state monopoly on arms exports, said Monday.

"Russia considers the exhibition to be an important step in expanding military-technical cooperation with Turkey and other countries in the region," a spokesman said.

The IDEF-2005 exhibition has been organized by the Turkish defense industry and will be held on September 27-30 in Ankara, the country's capital. About 430 companies from 49 countries are expected to attend the event.

Russia's exhibit will show the latest developments in the sphere of military helicopters. Aside from the Ka-226 helicopter, it will include Mi-35M attack helicopters, Mi-17 transport helicopters, the Ka-31 AWACS helicopter and a modified version of the Ka-50 Black Shark (NATO reporting name Hokum A) attack helicopter.

The equipment for land forces will be represented by 2S19 MSTA-S self-propelled howitzer, the Iskander-E missile system and the Buk-M1-2 air defense missile system.
