Lebedev lawyers ask prosecutors to reveal whereabouts of client
MOSCOW, October 13 (RIA Novosti) - Lawyers representing the former head of Group Menatep, Platon Lebedev, have asked the Russian General Prosecutor's Office to reveal the whereabouts of their client, and allow them to meet with him, one of the lawyers said Thursday.
Yevegeny Baru said the lawyers had also asked to be shown the order on launching criminal proceedings against Lebedev, the orders on extending preliminary investigations, and other procedural documents.
Nataliya Vishnyakova, the head of the General Prosecutor's Office's press service, had previously said that former head of embattled oil giant Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his business partner Lebedev were to face new charges, "primarily over the legalization of criminally obtained funds, totaling billions of rubles."
A prison official said Wednesday that the whereabouts of the two men, who are being transferred from Moscow to the prison where they will serve their eight-year prison sentences, would be announced when they reached their destination.
