Iran leader's Israel comments unacceptable - Russian Ministry
MOSCOW, December 9 (RIA Novosti)-Russia consider the anti-Israeli comments made by Iran's leader on Thursday to be unacceptable, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.
In the wake of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's remarks to the effect that the Holocaust never happened and that Israel should be moved to Europe, the ministry issued a strongly worded response.
"It is difficult to comment on such unacceptable statements," the ministry said. "There are commonly known historical facts connected with World War II, including the Holocaust. The given facts cannot be subject to revision and everyone should understand this."
"Russia, and the international community as a whole, is firmly in favor of Israel living in peace and security side by side with a independent Palestinian state," the ministry said.
The Russian ministry said that all UN members should observe the fundamental principles of international relations in the UN Charter, including the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
