MOSCOW, January 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has offered to help Turkey control its bird flu outbreak, Russia's chief doctor said Tuesday. "We have offered Turkey the help of our epidemiologists, doctors, and specialists with experience in eradicating similar outbreaks in Russia in August and September," Gennady Onishchenko said.
Three children have died in eastern Turkey after contracting the H5N1 strain of the virus, and a further 12 people have been infected.
"We are also ready to supply Turkey with diagnostic equipment, and to train Turkish specialists to use it to swiftly and accurately diagnose the disease," Onishchenko said.
