MOSCOW, January 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian company Sukhoi Civilian Aircraft (SCA) signed an agreement Friday to buy SaM-146 engines from French-Russian joint venture PowerJet.
The engines are to be fitted to SCA's new Russian Regional Jet (RRJ) planes.
"This contract is the result of a huge amount of work from both sides," SCA Director General Viktor Subbotin said at the signing ceremony. "We are glad that RRJ planes will be equipped with SaM-146 engines. These engines incorporate the most modern of technical advancements, and fully meet the demands of our airline customers."
PowerJet CEO Michel Dechelotte said, "The agreement reflects our long-term obligations and relationship with our partner - Sukhoi Civilian Aircraft - and is an important step in cooperation between Russia and France in the aviation industry."
