Power limits to be imposed on Moscow January 23
MOSCOW, January 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's electricity monopoly Unified Energy System (UES) said Sunday that it planned to introduce power limits in Moscow from January 23.
"We consider a possibility of introducing limits on electric power supply in the amount of up to 577 megawatts from 08:00 a.m. to 22:00 p.m. (05:00 a.m. - 19:00 p.m. GMT) from Monday, January 23," the company's press office said.
According to UES, the Sunday morning peak load on the Moscow power system reached 12,773 megawatts and the Sunday evening peak load was expected at 13,150 megawatts.
UES said the morning peak load on the Moscow power system on January 23 could reach 15,500 megawatts because people would come to work to unheated premises after the weekend and the evening peak on that day could hit 16,200 megawatts - a record high registered on January 20.
