Russia launches investigation into gas pipeline explosion

VLADIKAVKAZ, January 22 (RIA Novosti) - The southern Russian region of North Ossetia launched a criminal investigation into an explosion on gas pipelines running through the republic to Trans-Caucasus, a senior republican official said Sunday.

Alexander Panov, a deputy prosecutor of North Ossetia, said the investigation had been opened on charges of the deliberate destruction of property.
