TBILISI, January 25 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili will meet with the head of Russia's electricity monopoly Unified Energy System (UES) Anatoly Chubais at the forthcoming World Economic Forum in Davos, a source in the Georgian presidential administration said Wednesday.
The source said the officials would discuss cooperation in the energy sector and the recent crisis in energy supply to Georgia.
On Sunday, the Mozdok-Tbilisi gas pipeline in the Republic of North Ossetia was damaged in explosions, cutting off gas supplies to Georgia and Armenia. A similar incident knocked out a power line in the region. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili condemned the blasts as political and premeditated acts undertaken by Russia, though the Russian Foreign Ministry and energy giant Gazprom have dismissed the claims.
