GROZNY, February 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russian troops engaged a group of militants outside the Chechen capital of Grozny Tuesday morning, a military commander said.
Sayed Magomed Kakiyev said federal troops had seized several grenade launchers and a Kalashnikov assault rifle, as well as 2 kilograms of mercury. The commander indicated that the militants had planned to use the mercury to poison public water supplies.
