Sergei Lavrov told Russian television that he had discussed the issue Tuesday with U.S. President George Bush, who said that the Iranian nuclear program required an extremely cautious approach and all future steps should be thoroughly considered before the UN Security Council took any specific measures.
Sergei Lavrov said it was "an attempt to escalate the situation and cause tensions in Transdnestr" in order to undermine the current mechanisms of conflict resolution and to change the situation unilaterally. 
Sergei Lavrov told Russian television that he had discussed the issue Tuesday with U.S. President George Bush, who said that the Iranian nuclear program required an extremely cautious approach and all future steps should be thoroughly considered before the UN Security Council took any specific measures.
"When Kozloduy [plant] Director General Ivan Ivanov visited Russia, an additional agreement was signed to extend the contract for nuclear fuel supplies" for four out of the plant's six reactors, said the TVEL corporation, which provides fuel for the Balkan state's NPP.
Russian media earlier reported that a $4-billion arms contract package with Algeria, the biggest in post-Soviet history, would be finalized after Putin's visit. 
"We urge Iran to most seriously consider the results of the [IAEA] board of governors' session and to ensure full cooperation with the IAEA," the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
President Viktor Yushchenko said the provisions of the 1997 agreements, which divided the Soviet Black Sea Fleet, had to be implemented. The Russian navy currently pays an annual rate of $93 million to remain in the Crimean port of Sevastopol until 2017.
A senior Ukrainian official justified Thursday a rise in rent for Russian navy facilities in the country by comparing the move with a decision by Russian energy giant Gazprom to increase the prices the country paid for imported natural gas.
