Russia still supports a diplomatic solution to the crisis around Iran's controversial nuclear program and will continue talks with Iranian officials.

TEHRAN, March 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russia still supports a diplomatic solution to the crisis around Iran's controversial nuclear program and will continue talks with Iranian officials after a round of consultations in Moscow Tuesday, the country's top security body said.

The Security Council's press service said Russian negotiators had reiterated the country's position during Tuesday's talks, which it said would be continued.

"During the discussions, the Russian side reiterated its commitment to finding a negotiated solution to the issue with the use of the potential of the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency]," it said.

Meanwhile, Iran's official news agency, citing sources at the Iranian Embassy in Moscow, said the talks over Tehran's nuclear program ended without a breakthrough, but the sides had agreed to continue their consultations on the issue.

IRNA said the ongoing international standoff over Iran's nuclear program and a Russian offer to enrich Iranian uranium on Russian soil were high on the agenda, but reported no details. The enrichment initiative was widely seen as a compromise in the crisis when it was first floated, but Iranian officials initially said it was no longer being considered after the UN's nuclear watchdog decided to refer Iran's nuclear file to the UN Security Council.

Deputy Head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Seyyed Ali Hosseini Tash, who was the Islamic Republic's main negotiator at the Moscow talks, has left for Tehran, IRNA said.
