MOSCOW, March 15 (RIA Novosti) - A senior Russian migration official voiced concerns Wednesday over the extent of illegal immigration from China to Russia's Far East.
"The situation is extremely dangerous," Konstantin Romodanovsky, head of the Federal Migration Service, told the State Duma, parliament's lower house.
Romodanovsky said he was planning to hold a special session in the Far East in the first half of the year to develop ways to counter the trend.
According to the Russian Interior Ministry, there are between 400,000 and 700,000 illegal Chinese migrants in Russia's Far East.
