The center said six of those detained had been released, all of them minors, and 16 protesters had been already sentenced to administrative arrests from seven to 10 days. 
"Why couldn't this aid have been provided earlier?" Boris Tarasyuk said. "Why is it not being sent by air or rail? Obviously, all of this is designed to influence the outcome of the [March 26] elections in Ukraine." 
Ursula Plassnik told a news conference that the EU Council had approved restrictive measures against Belarusian officials responsible for violations of international election standards, including President Alexander Lukashenko.
