Jordan's foreign minister to discuss Mideast situation in Moscow
MOSCOW, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - Jordan's foreign minister will arrive in Russia for a working visit on April 10-11 to discuss the situation in the Middle East, the Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesman said Sunday.
Mikhail Kamynin said Abd-al-Ilah al-Khatib, to arrive in Russia on the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, would also discuss the situation in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.
"This visit will help develop a trust-based political dialog between Russia and Jordan, which have close positions on major international and regional problems," Kamynin said.
According to Kamynin, Jordan is one of the key Middle East players conducting a well-weighed and realistic foreign policy.
"Coordination of our countries' political and diplomatic efforts on the most pressing regional problems is an important factor, which has positive influence on the development of the situation in the Middle East," Kamynin said.
Kamynin added that the parties were also expected to discuss the fight against international terrorism and religious extremism and efforts to develop an inter-civilization dialog.
Kamynin said the parties would also focus on measures to boost bilateral trade.
