MOSCOW, April 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Strategic Air Command has concluded a series of command-and-staff exercises involving launches of cruise missiles in the Far East, an Air Force spokesman said Friday.

Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky said the exercises, involving Tu-160 Blackjack and Tu-95MC Bear strategic bombers, Il-78 tanker planes, and Su-27 Flanker fighters, had been supervised by Lieutenant General Igor Khvorov, Commander of the Strategic Air Command's 37th Army.

Four cruise missiles were launched during the exercises, which also included midair refueling and flights along the Alaska coast in rough weather conditions among a total of 60 combat training flight missions.

This was the second large-scale exercise conducted by the 37th Air Army since the beginning of the year. During a four-day exercise in March, strategic bombers practiced eight cruise missile launches in the Far North.
