Russia's M2 money supply up 2% in 1Q06 - CBR

MOSCOW, April 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Central Bank announced Wednesday that the country's M2 money supply grew 2% over the first quarter of 2006, from 6.169 trillion rubles ($220.7 bln) on January 1 to 6.047 trillion rubles ($225.23 bln) on April 1.

M0 money supply (cash in circulation) fell during the same period from 2.01 trln rubles ($73.35 bln) to 1.929 trln rubles ($70.41 bln), while the amount of non-cash funds increased from 4.036 trln rubles ($147.35 bln) to 4.241 trln rubles ($154.81 bln).

Russia's M2 is defined by the CBR as total cash in circulation outside banks, plus ruble funds on accounts of resident non-financial organizations and individuals.
